La socialmetría: propuesta de una terminología disciplinar

Abstract

Introduction: In various social disciplines, there are concepts whose nomenclatures are constructed with a distinctive suffix of the same discipline and a prefix that recalls measurement. Concepts like psychometrics or econometrics, among others, exist in this manner. However, there is a lack of a similar concept in social work. This means that there are no procedures that validate and provide reliability to the techniques used in professional practice, exacerbating uncertainties and insecurities.
Objective: Given this gap, this essay proposes socialmetry as a disciplinary tool for the scientifically supported use of assessment and social intervention techniques and tools.
Method: Essay, exemplified by the monthly expense report, which currently lacks research to support its professional-disciplinary use.
Conclusions: Adopting the perspective of socialmetry helps differentiate social work from social services, grounding praxis in science rather than the application of administrative manuals.
