A Historical View to the Trajectory of the Costa Rican Association of Social Workers
Main Article Content
Abstract
Within the framework of the 55th anniversary of the Costa Rican Association of Social Workers (Coltras, for its acronym in Spanish), the Revista Costarricense de Trabajo Social (the Costa Rican Social Work Magazine), in partnership with the Coltras technical team on social work, set out to write the organization’s historical memoir, in order to identify the socio-historical conditions that led to its creation, as well as the developments achieved over more than half a decade of its existence.
In addition, it organized two round tables with participation from former Coltras presidents, who, in their own words, spoke about the work accomplished and achievements made over the years, since Coltras was foundedup through present day. Colleagues
with significant participation in Coltras, as well as the organization’s administrator, were also interviewed, and the magazine carried out an exhaustive bibliographical review of minutes, newspapers, academic articles, and institutional documents.
The synthesis of that work is presented in this article.
